Procedure: Gastric bypass
Weight lost: 160 pounds

For most of my life, I’ve struggled with my weight. One day, I found myself sitting with my son watching television, and he looked up at me and said, ‘Mommy how did you get so big?’ I could have crawled under the chair we were sitting on.

It was then I knew I had to do something. I logged on to my computer that night and searched for an answer. I found myself watching TV one day when the Oprah Winfrey Show came on, and Carnie Wilson and Randy Jackson were telling their stories about having weight loss surgery. Then, a family friend told me about Dr. Snyder, a bariatric surgeon in Denver.

I remember telling my husband I would rather die than live another six months as a fat person. My body felt like it was falling apart at 305 pounds. Dr. Snyder saved my life. I ended up losing 160 pounds over the next year and a half. I now ride motorcycles, run, and play with my teenage son. I am so thankful to Dr. Snyder, his staff and Rose Medical Center.
